ANAHEIM, Calif. – Centaurus Financial, Inc. donated $5,000 to Caterina’s Club during the annual Centaurus holiday luncheon at the Anaheim White House. In addition to the monetary donation, Centaurus employees donated jars of spaghetti sauce and toys for the children. “This is the second year in a row that we have held our annual holiday luncheon at the Anaheim White House.” said Ron King, CEO of Centaurus. “We selected the Anaheim White House because of Caterina’s Club and their steadfast commitment to feed the homeless children in our community. Plus the food is outstanding!”
During the event, Sylvano Ibay, Caterina’s Club Chairman, accepted the donation on behalf of Chef Bruno Serato, the owner of Anaheim White House and founder of Caterina’s Club. Ibay shared the touching story of Caterina’s Club and the incredible impact and progress the charity has made since formation in 2005. Caterina’s Club started off making pasta to feed 72 hungry ‘motel children’ five nights a week. Today, Caterina’s Club feeds 1,800 children a nutritional pasta meal five nights a week all year long.
Ibay went on to share that in addition to Caterina’s Club, they have started two additional organizations, the Welcome Home Program and a Hospitality Training Program. In order to help low-income families transition from living in motels to apartments, the Welcome Home Program covers first and last month’s rent plus the security deposit. To date, 89 families have been successfully relocated. The Hospitality Training Program, Serato’s newest program in the works, teaches children the hospitality business. This way, when they are older and need to work, they will be armed to enter the workforce with restaurant skills.
